Tapani Kokko has carnivalised the Finnish wood carving art. He has thrown away any expectations of elegance for wood as a material, and simply has fun with it. He doesn’t leave a trace of beautiful wooden surface, but a rough carving trace that he colours when needed. His themes are inspired by the boy culture. He presents the boys’ games right from the sexual awakening to the questioning of the requirements of different roles. He exposes the vulnerability behind the games while laughing at the seriousness with which adulthood is approached.
The exhibition is open from the 2nd of June till the 2nd of July, 2017. Wed-Fri 12-18, Sat-Sun 12-16.
Welcome to the opening party on Thursday, 1st of June from 17:00 to 19:00!
