His previous private exhibition, IMMJ – It’s the Most Marvellous Joy, was seen at Copenhagen’s VAERKstedet gallery earlier this year. Hanna Saarikoski (b. 1978) has graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, and she works with both paintings and video art. Her watercolour paintings are lucid, and often they represent people on a personal level, through memories and the subconsciousness. The atmosphere in the paintings is gentle, although the viewer has the opportunity to see the theme exposed in a way that is both bald and honest.
The exposition will be open from January 5th till February 4th, 2018. Welcome to the opening party on Thursday, 4th of January from 5 to 7 p.m.!
On December 7th at ARTag Gallery Studio we will be opening an exhibition about the violent beginnings of Finland´s independence.
Ismo Kajanderi´s work, The Wedding March, is composed of his mother´s old watercolour painting, a text that is the artist´s personal manifesto, and an ensemble of sculptures.
Ismo Kajander (b. 1939) is an artist, a photographer, a writer and a teacher, whose career has lasted for over seven decades. There was a large retrospective on him in Kiasma in 2015.
Making art has meant to me almost sixty years of constant celebration. Sometimes I have persuaded my art to deal even with sociological themes. Therefore, no wonder if the centenary brought to life an artwork, a Finland 100 celebratory piece, that certainly doesn’t form part of the official program. An artwork that was inspired by a young girls´s, my mother´s, memory right from the first moments of our independence, says Kajander.
His mother’s childhood home was at Marjasmäki of Lempäälä’s Kuivaspää, where in the spring of 1918 his mother had to witness an event where the villagers brought out a few “desants” that had been kept in the neighbour’s barn, and executed them. Later, in the 1980’s, his mother painted about this incident a watercolour painting, that will now be seen as part of this exhibition.
Exhibition open at ARTag Gallery Studio from the 7th till the 17th of December.
Liisa Steffa´s unique pieces of jewellery combine her passion as a designer, and her knowledge of cultural history. The themes and materials of her jewellery are found from her travels around the world: from markets, antique stores and flea markets. She uses both raw as well as more elaborate natural materials and miniature objects made of them. The aesthetic combinations are fascinating and the pieces of jewellery can be worn like pieces of art.
Liisa Steffa has studied history, art history and archeology in the University of Helsinki, and art in the Academy of Fine Arts. She moved to the United States in 1968 and focused there in textile art. When she returned to Finland in 1971 her patchwork exposition in the Helsinki Design Center was first of its kind here. Stuff has made her professional career at Otava as a nonfiction publisher.
Anna-Kaisa Ant-Wuorinen (b. 1957) is a material centred sculptor, and the way she manipulates the material brings along an element of storytelling. A few years ago her house burned down and with it all the books and art, including some of her own works. This exposition in two volumes, one in ARTag Gallery and the other in Galleria Huuto, tells a story of what happened next.
Exposition open from the 1st till the 17th of December. Welcome to the opening party on Thursday, November 30th 2017 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Avec!
The second part of the exposition can be seen in Galleria Huuto in Jätkäsaari from th 9th till the 29th of December. Welcome to the opening party on Friday, December 8th from 6 pm to 8 pm!
Marikka Kiirikoff (b. 1974) is a profound painter, who can make her beautiful brush strokes reach honest, even puritan levels without being overbearingly explicit. In her artworks, history is not only a story, but reality that we cannot dismiss.
Exhibition open from 3.11. till 26.11.
Welcome to the opening party on Thursday, November 2nd from 5 to 7 p.m.
Helena Kauppila (b. 1982, London) is an artist living in Berlin. When she was young, Kauppila studied physics and mathematics a the California Institute of Technology. She got her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Columbia University in New York in 2010.
After finishing her thesis, Kauppila has concentrated on her profession as an artist. She is specially fascinated by the philosophical side of mathematics, and she says she analyses her works with the tools and means she acquired from mathematics.
In this ARTag Gallery exhibitions we will be seeing Kauppila´s drawings from the Body-Mind series. The artworks have bee made by drawing with marker pens on stone paper. They are based on a line that respects the form of the human body. In these ethereal drawings the different coloured lines form transparent surfaces that by overlapping and interlocking map the human being in a way that resembles the old medical body maps. However, Kauppila´s line is light and playful.
Helena Kauppila has held a number of private exhibitions in New York, and has partaken in collective exhibitions both in New York and in Berlin. Some of her artworks have been acquired by the Timo Miettinen Collection. This is her first solo exhibition in Finland.

Erik Creutziger (b. 1982) is an artist who paints themes that casually fall somewhere between fantasy world and reality. His genuine expression uses an expressive style of painting as a means to achieve an effect, but every time the paintings have more and more naturalistic details. Creutziger, who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts a few years ago, held his last solo exhibition at Forum Box. His artworks can be found for example in the collections of the Saastamoinen Foundation, the State Art Collection, Helsinki Art Museum and Pro Artibus.

In this exhibitions, a series of photographs around the same theme have been installed in a way that together they form an entire artwork.
Noora herself describes her new work like this:
“Movement takes life forward. In my work I deal with different manifestations of movement within our bodies and minds. I am also interested in the various forms of change around us. My work seeks to provide answers to the question what moves us. I work with video, film, and photography.”
Noora Geagea is an artist who has graduated as Master of Arts from London, and whose works can be seen for instance in the collections of Aine Art Museum, Timo Miettinen’s collection and Finland’s national collection.
