06.09.19 – ALEKSIINA SALMI: DREAMING OF A GALLOPING HORSE

Published

Aleksiina Salmi (B. 1994) graduated as a visual artist from Kaarisilta in 2016. Salmi’s themes generate from reality, but she studies them through fantasy. Strong colors, rythmic work with the surface and brave positioning repeat themselves in her artwork. Mainly, Salmi paints animal themes, but she adds symbolic elements to them. Dark clouds, blood and strong backlight may modify the atmosphere in the paintings so, that the fun and lightness perceived at first look remain ostensible after all, and darker shades can be discovered beneath the surface.

The exhibition will be open from the 6th till the 29th of September. Wed-Fri 12-18, Sat-Sun 12-16.

Welcome to the opening party on Thursday, September 5th, from 5 to 7 pm!

06.09.19 – MELINA PAAKKONEN: THE FOLLOWERS

Published

Melina Paakkonen (b. 1989) graduated this spring from the Turku Art Academy. She paints, makes collages, and mixes these two techiques. The paintings are generously layered, combining decoration and expression in a sensual way. In the collages, on the other hand, rough material aesthetics and a steadily growing trace of drawing that grows out of it together build a surreal world.

The exhibition will be open from the 6th till the 29th of September. Wed-Fri 12-18, Sat-Sun 12-16.
